DEADLINES: All deadlines are Close of Business that day.

FEMA Individual Assistance (IA) and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA): Deadlines to apply is Friday, Dec. 12.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) – Deadline is extended to Friday, Dec. 12. Call 1-800-504-7030.

FEMA Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) – The deadline is extended to Thursday, Jan. 15 for eligible applicants.

U.S. Small Business Disaster Loans – Key Points for Bolivar Residents, Businesses, Churches and Non-Profit Organizations - SBA Disaster Loan funds come directly from the U.S. Treasury and are available to renters, homeowners, businesses of all sizes and non-profit organizations.  Secondary homes, personal pleasure boats, recreational vehicles and similar property are not eligible, unless used for business purposes. Owners of rental properties are eligible to apply for SBA Disaster Loan funds—even if they have rented their properties for only part of the year and reported the income on Schedule E of their Federal Tax Return.  Likewise anyone who had a business on Bolivar or used their property for business purposes and reported that on their Federal Tax Return are eligible. Our interest is getting funds into people’s hands as quickly as possible so they can begin their recovery.ü      The SBA application is the gateway to possible further assistance.  Even if someone does not want a loan or feels like they can’t afford a loan, they should apply.  When SBA is unable to approve a loan we refer qualified applicants back to FEMA for Other Needs Assistance.  FEMA is approving $1Million/day in Other Needs Assistance in Texas to those referred by SBA.  SBA itself has approved over $300Million in Disaster Loans to help Texans recover.ü      Insurance does not have to be settled before the SBA application is completed or SBA is able to loan funds for recovery.  Receiving an SBA loan does not inhibit receiving FEMA grants, Hazard Mitigation Grants or insurance settlements.ü      Even if an applicant has been declined by FEMA they may still be eligible for an SBA disaster loan.  Anyone receiving an SBA loan application should complete and return it as soon as possible.  We continue to provide answers to applicants within 6-10 days.ü      Even if an applicant is unsure of their recovery plans they should complete an SBA application.  SBA loan funds can be “put on the shelf” for six months—or possibly longer while an applicant determines what they want to do—while they deal with code requirements, building permits, possible decisions to relocate, etc.ü      If someone has lost or misplaced their SBA application they can obtain a replacement by visiting one of the Centers, calling (800)659-2955, or completing the on-line application at:  https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.  Completed paper applications can me mailed to 14925 Kingsport Rd., Ft. Worth, TX 76155-2243.  Applications submitted at any Center will be sent via FedEx so processing can begin the next morning.

There is a deadline for this assistance—December 12th.  Applicants who submit their applications by the deadline preserve their eligibility even thought they may not know or have all the pieces of their recovery in place.  After December 12th  this assistance may not be available.
